The Phenix City Police Department is recommending that families celebrate Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, and trick-or-treat between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern time.
The department says extra patrols will be in place to help provide a safe Halloween experience.
Halloween Safety Tips
Phenix City police are reminding residents to take precautions while celebrating Halloween.
• Plan your trick-or-treating route in advance and avoid going to homes you do not know.
• Children should not trick-or-treat alone.
• Stay on sidewalks or along the side of the road and use caution when crossing streets.
• Trick-or-treat in well-lit areas and carry a flashlight.
• Make sure costumes are visible at night. Use reflective tape if necessary.
• Parents should check the sex offender registry before planning their trick-or-treating route.
• Inspect all candy before children eat it. Discard any unwrapped or opened items.
• Drivers should slow down and watch carefully for children.
• Homeowners should leave exterior lights on and remove obstacles from their lawns and walkways.
• Use battery-operated lights instead of candles inside pumpkins.
• Keep trick-or-treating groups to a manageable size.
The department encourages families to follow these safety recommendations to help ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween for everyone.
