The crash occurred on Pine Ridge Trail, which if off of Whiterock Road, around 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026. The crash involved a vehicle striking a tree.
A 12-year-old male child riding with his parent was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. The child was the passenger in the vehicle.
The child was pronounced dead at 6:23 a.m. and his body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.
