Aggravated assault on Kelley Street in LaGrange today, man wanted

CNAW Newsroom —
Aggravated assault on Kelley Street in LaGrange today, man wanted

A female is recovering from injuries after being struck by a rifle in LaGrange today. Police say the suspect in the case is on the run.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Kelley Street on March 8, 2024 in regards to a person with a gun. Officers located a female victim who had been struck several times with an AK style rifle resulting in visible injuries to her head. She was transported to West Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Detectives were notified and took over the investigation.

“The victim identified Eric Colton as her attacker, and stated he made threats that he was going to kill her while he attacked her after a verbal argument escalated into violence,” police said. She tried to call 911 for help but Colton snatched the phone away from her before she could call.

Witnesses on scene verified that a fight took place between Colton and the female victim.

“The firearm was recovered on scene when other parties were apprehended while trying to smuggle the weapon used by Colton out of the residence,” police added.

Eric Colton remains at large. Arrest warrants were issued for Aggravated Assault and Inference with a 911 call.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Detective Horseman at (706) 883-2658.
