An officer-involved shooting has occurred in Montgomery.

The shooting occurred around 5:50 p.m. central standard time on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, on Longleaf Drive. Longleaf Drive is located in a residential area off of Selma Highway.

CNAW2News.com confirmed with law enforcement sources and police radio traffic — a law enforcement special agent with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and a suspect were shot in the incident.

The special agent was taken to Baptist Medical Center South via a law enforcement escort. The official is in stable condition, law enforcement sources tell CNAW2News.com. The suspect’s condition is unclear, at this time.

The special agent worked with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s SWAT team.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Captain Jeremy Burkett said the incident occurred when ALEA SWAT and Officers assigned to the Metro Area Crime Suppression (MACS) Unit were working an enforcement detail in the city.

“We do ask for prayers as well as your continued support for the Special Agent, the family, and the members of our Agency during this time,” Burkett said.

A large response is underway at the scene from Montgomery Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Montgomery Fire-Rescue and others.

This is a developing story.
