Lee County sheriff’s investigators have begun a probe into a deadly stabbing early Sunday morning.

Authorities began after investigating after deputies responded to a stabbing that occurred in the 900 block of Lee Road 147 on February 9th 2025 at approximately 2:34 AM.

41-year-old Cory Vernon Rogers was found deceased inside the residence with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds in his chest, side and back area.

Authorities say 34-year-old Daniel Ray Metcalf was taken into custody on scene by Sheriff’s Deputies where he admitted to stabbing the victim.

“Witnesses at the scene stated that the two men were in a verbal argument when they started physically fighting, leading to Metcalf pulling a knife and stabbing Rogers,” the sheriff’s office said. “The two men were both from Opelika and were room mates at the time of the murder.”

Metcalf was transported to the Lee County Detention Center and charged with Murder. He is being held with no bond at this time.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 334-749-5651 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 334- 215- STOP (7867).
