CNAW Newsroom —
Arrest made after high speed chase ends in Lee County
1 of 5

Authorities have made an arrest after a multi-county chase ended at a Lee County residence today.

The chase began around 11:30 A.M. eastern time on January 3, 2024, when Russell County sheriff deputies conducted a traffic stop. The subject fled and the pursuit ended at a Lee County residence in the 100 block of Lee Road 2009.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says the Lee County Tactical unit was called to the scene and the subject surrendered to law enforcement at the residence. The subject is in custody with Russell County Sheriff’s Office on outstanding felony charges. “No injuries reported to anyone involved at present,” Sheriff Jay Jones added.

The subject, later identified as 36-year-old Sidney Tyron Person, was booked into Russell County on obstructing police-CI using false name/identity, obstructing police-ATEPO attempting to elude a police officer, and assault-reckless endangerment charges.

This remains a developing story.
