A woman has been arrested nearly 10 months after a Columbus State University lecturer was fatally shot inside her Lakebottom home in what authorities initially described as an accidental shooting.

Snow’s mugshot

According to Muscogee County Jail records, Angela Rhodes Snow, 62, was arrested on July 30, 2026, and charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in connection with the death of Erica Blascom Anderson. The charge stems from a Muscogee County grand jury indictment.

The charge is related to the fatal shooting that occurred around 1:30 a.m. on October 13, 2025, in the 1600 block of 17th Avenue.

When the shooting occurred, investigators said Anderson’s roommate believed she was an intruder and fired a weapon, striking Anderson. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan later confirmed the shooting was determined to be an accidental shooting that resulted in Anderson’s death.

Anderson (victim)

Anderson, 31, was from Indiana and was serving as a lecturer in the Department of Theatre & Dance at Columbus State University.

Following Snow’s arrest, Anderson’s husband, John Anderson, shared an update on the case, saying a grand jury had returned an indictment charging Snow with Involuntary Manslaughter (OCGA 16-5-3(a)), with the underlying unlawful act listed as Reckless Conduct (OCGA 16-5-60(b)).

“While this is only one step in what will likely be a long legal process, it is an important one,” Anderson wrote. “I will continue to share updates as the case moves forward so that everyone who has supported us knows where things stand.”

He also thanked those who have supported his family since Erica’s death.

“Over the past 10 months, so many of you have stood beside me and my boys with your prayers, kindness, encouragement, and generosity,” he wrote. “I honestly can’t express how much your support has meant to our family as we’ve learned to navigate life without Erica.”

Anderson said he and his sons continue to grieve while adjusting to life without Erica.

“We continue to take things one day at a time. We still miss Erica every single day, and we’re still grieving while adjusting to all that has changed. There are good days and difficult days, but we’re moving forward together and doing the best we can.”

Snow remains charged with involuntary manslaughter.
