Auburn man arrested after allegedly stealing two ATVs and a motorcycle

Lee County Sheriff’s Office have arrested an Auburn man in connection to allegedly stealing two ATVs and a motorcycle over the summer.

During the month of May, 2023, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received three reports of an unknown male suspect stealing two ATV’s and a motorcycle.

“Victims stated that they placed the items for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Each victim was contacted by a potential buyer who met them in the Loachapoka area of Lee County to see the vehicles for sale,” the sheriff’s office said. “The subject then asked to test drive the vehicles and when allowed to do so, fled the area on the vehicles and did not return.”

Victims described the suspect as a younger black male with distinctive tattoos.

On July 30th 2023, another victim reported that he posted his motorcycle on Facebook Marketplace and went to meet a potential buyer in the same general area of Loachapoka where the prior thefts occurred. The potential buyer was again allowed to test drive the motorcycle but did not return. The victim gave the same description of the suspect as previous victims.

Investigators were able to identify Leshawn Calloway, 18, from Auburn as the suspect and he was arrested on July 31, 2023 and charged with 4 counts of Theft of Property in the 1st Degree by Lee County Sheriff Investigators.

He was booked in at the Lee County Jail and released on August 1, 2023 after posting bail in the amount of $20,000.00.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 334-749-5651 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867)
