UPDATE: On July 8, 2025, Auburn Police responded to the 2500 block of East University Drive in reference to a deceased person. Upon arrival on scene, officers discovered a body in an advanced stage of decomposition located inside of an abandoned structure.

Officials located property at the scene belonging to Julian Edward “Eddie” Nichols III, a person reported missing on June 10, 2025. A death investigation is underway, and investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the identity. There is no evidence to suggest criminal activity or a present threat to the community.

Auburn Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 50-year-old man who has been missing since late May.

Julian Edward Nichols III, known to friends and family as “Eddie,” was last seen or heard from on May 30, according to a report made to police on June 10. The complainant met with officers and reported Nichols missing, prompting an active investigation into his whereabouts.

Nichols is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 210 pounds. He is believed to be driving a black Dodge truck from the early 2000s.

Auburn Police detectives say they are pursuing all possible leads and continue to investigate the case. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Nichols’ location to contact them immediately.

Tips can be reported to the Auburn Police Department at (334) 501-3100. Anonymous information can also be provided by calling or texting the tip line at (334) 246-1391 or by emailing [email protected].

Officials advise that if anyone sees Nichols, they should not approach him but instead contact law enforcement right away.

The investigation remains ongoing.
