Auburn Police seeking information in two inappropriate physical contact incidents

CNAW Newsroom —
Auburn Police seeking information in two inappropriate physical contact incidents

Auburn Police Department is reaching out to the community for assistance in connection with two separate incidents involving inappropriate physical contact. Both events occurred on Aug. 23, 2023 on Samford Avenue.

At approximately 10:00 AM, a female pedestrian was walking in the vicinity of East Samford Avenue and Pinedale Drive when she reported an incident of inappropriate touching. The suspect, described as a black male with shoulder length dreadlocks and wearing dark clothing, groped the victim. Authorities are actively seeking information from any witnesses or individuals who might have insights into this event.

At approximately 6:00 PM, a different female pedestrian reported a similar incident on Samford Avenue near Chewacla Drive and Hillcrest Drive. In this instance, the victim was reportedly grabbed by a male suspect, who emerged from the nearby bushes. The description of the suspect closely matches the one provided in the earlier incident – a black male with shoulder length dreadlocks. A photo of the suspect in this incident was captured.

The Auburn Police Department places a high priority on investigating these incidents and ensuring the safety and security of our community. Our officers are actively following leads and collaborating with partner organizations to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for these unsettling actions. Increased patrols have been deployed in the affected areas.

You may remain anonymous.

The Auburn Police Department remains unwavering in our commitment to upholding the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors. Police advise all community members to remain vigilant, travel in well-lit areas and promptly report any suspicious activity to local authorities.

Further updates related to these incidents will be provided as the investigations progress.
