A botched robbery has left one teen dead and another in stable condition after the robbery gone wrong led to a shots fired at the park on Lindsey Street in LaGrange.

The deceased teen was identified as 16-year-old Nydarrian Laye, according to Troup County Coroner Erin Hackley. Laye was pronounced deceased at 4:45 PM at Wellstar West Georgia. An 18-year-old identified as Lasabyan Mikal Harden suffered one gunshot wound to the left leg. “It was determined during the investigation that Laye and Harden were both shot during an altercation at the same location,” police said.

The investigation revealed that during an attempted drug transaction Harden shot Laye, who in return, returned fire striking Harden in the leg. Harden has since been charged with one count of felony murder stemming from this incident. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706)812-1000 or the LaGrange Police Department at (706)883-2603.
