Camp Hill man dies in Lee County highway crash Saturday night

CNAW Newsroom —
Camp Hill man dies in Lee County highway crash Saturday night

A Camp Hill man has died after a crash along Highway 280 in northwest Lee County.

The crash occurred during the late evening hours of Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, on U.S. Highway 280 West near Loblockee Creek, about eight miles from downtown Auburn. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a 2013 Dodge Durango left the roadway, struck a ditch and then the rear-end of a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer. After striking the tractor-trailer, the Durango caught on fire and became engulfed in flames

Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton said the driver of the Durango, identified as Marcus Edwards, 44, of Camp Hill, was pronounced dead at 10:18 p.m. central standard time.

Edwards was the sole occupant of his vehicle and no other injuries were reported.

Edwards will be transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences Montgomery Medical by the Lee County Coroner’s Office Facility for postmortem examination.

The investigation remains ongoing.
