Central High School implements additional security measures; parents, students concerned

CNAW Newsroom —
Central High School implements additional security measures; parents, students concerned

On Friday morning, students entering Central High School were met with long lines and concerns about a possible incident, but school officials said the delays were due to enhanced security measures.

CNAW2News began receiving numerous messages from parents and students who were concerned about the police presence and rumors of a potential threat.

In an email from Central High School administration, they announced “as part of our ongoing safety efforts, [we] implemented additional security measures today to help protect our scholars.”

Administration officials said in the email, “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our school community.”

The details regarding the additional security measures were not released by school officials. CNAW2News reached out to Phenix City Board of Education to confirm further details and if the school had received any recent threats. At the time of this article, the board has not responded.
