Columbus man charged in early January shooting death on Ft. Benning Road

A Columbus man is facing two serious charges in connection to a shooting death in the south end of the city earlier this month.
The shooting occurred at an apartment complex at 2330 Fort Benning Road on January 8, 2024. The shooting victim, identified as 39-year-old William Thomas Brown, was pronounced dead.
Violent Crimes investigators arrested a suspect, identified as 19-year-old Devaris Gerome Binn, on two charges: murder and armed robbery. According to jail records, Binn was booked into the Muscogee County Jail on January 25, 2024, at 5:35 P.M.
NOTE: The mugshot that is in this article is from Binn’s previous arrest which occurred on October 12, 2022 for theft by receiving stolen property – felony.
