Columbus man named one of two suspects in hiding of missing juvenile in Tallassee

CNAW Newsroom —
Columbus man named one of two suspects in hiding of missing juvenile in Tallassee

An investigation is underway after the Tallassee Police Department received a call in reference to a welfare check for a missing juvenile, from Florida, on March 28th.

“Tallassee Police units responded to the location provided by the caller and were able to locate the missing juvenile,” a police-issued press release said. “Further investigation revealed the juvenile may have been held against her will and was the victim of several other offenses, perpetrated by the suspects.”

Tallapoosa County DHR and the Child Advocacy Center were able to safely return to the missing juvenile to her family.

The initial suspect, 19-year-old Treundez Nelson of Columbus, Georgia, was identified by the victim, was taken into custody late Monday night, without  incident, in the 100 block of Lee Street in Tallassee.  Nelson has a previous run in with the law back on March 13th of 2020 on the charge of contempt of court.

The second suspect, Jerry Terrell of Tallassee, voluntarily responded to the Tallassee Police Department on today, March 29th, and was also taken into custody without incident.

Both suspects were charged with multiple sex crime related offenses and transported to the Tallapoosa County Jail, where they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
