Key takeaways
  • Daniel Sexton re-elected Lee County coroner with 66.08% of vote, defeating Brian Allen.
  • Sexton credits family, particularly daughter's social media management, for campaign success.

Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton will remain in his office following election day in Lee County.

Sexton won with over 66.08% of the vote against former Lee County investigator Brian Allen, who received 33.92% of the vote, according to unofficial results.

CNAW2News.com spoke with Sexton following the news.

“It’s been an honor to be the coroner and help families in some of their most difficult times,” Sexton said. “I’m happy I’m going to get to do it again for the next term.”

The coroner described the campaign as a team effort, with his family playing a major role throughout the race. Sexton said his daughter especially stepped up behind the scenes, helping manage much of the campaign’s social media outreach.

“My daughter and son have both been working a lot,” he said. “Especially my daughter — she’s been the big campaign manager on Facebook. It’s been fun to do.”

With Election Day now over, Sexton said he is looking forward to focusing once again on serving the people of Lee County.

“The only thing to say is just thank you very much,” Sexton said. “I’m glad to be able to serve as coroner again, appreciate everyone’s support and votes, and I’m looking forward to the next term.”
