Deadly Thanksgiving Day crash in Lee County leaves one dead, others injured

Alabama state troopers are investigating after a deadly Thanksgiving Day crash in Lee County.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Lee Road 188 and U.S. Highway 280 around 5:30 P.M. on Thanksgiving Day.

51-year-old John O. Rowe was fatally injured when the 2002 Mercury Sable he was driving was struck by the 2015 Subaru Legacy driven by an 56-year-old female. Rowe was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The female driver and a female passenger of the Subaru were both injured and transported to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika for treatment. A second passenger in the Subaru, a 13-year-old juvenile, was also injured and transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
