A deck collapse in Tallapoosa County left multiple people injured, fire agencies say.

Courtesy: PPVFD Paces Point Volunteer Fire Department, along with Tallapoosa County EMS, were dispatched on July 23, 2023, to a report of a deck collapse with multiple patients.

“Units arrived on scene and started triaging patients and assessed the needs of the incident,” the volunteer fire department said. “The need for ambulances to transport patients was greater than what was responding on initial dispatch, at that time Incident Command requested for Alexander City Fire and EMS to respond to assist with the transport and care of patients.”

Alexander City Fire and EMS says there was a total of possibly 15 people injured, with 6 having critical injuries. Of those 6, Alex City EMS transported only 2. Stillwaters Volunteer Fire Department, Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office, Lifesaver 4, and Haynes Lifeflight responded to the scene as well.
