East Alabama Health EMS urges heat safety ahead of Argentina-Iceland match at Jordan-Hare Stadium

CNAW Newsroom —
East Alabama Health EMS urges heat safety ahead of Argentina-Iceland match at Jordan-Hare Stadium

As thousands of fans gather at Jordan-Hare Stadium for Tuesday night’s Roadto26 international friendly between Argentina and Iceland, East Alabama Health EMS is reminding attendees to take precautions against the summer heat.

With temperatures remaining high and many fans expected to spend extended periods outdoors before and during the match, EMS officials are encouraging everyone to stay hydrated and be aware of the warning signs of heat-related illnesses.

“High temperatures and extended time outdoors can quickly lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, or even heat stroke,” East Alabama Health EMS said in a public safety message shared ahead of the event.

Officials recommend fans drink plenty of water before, during, and after the match, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, and seek out shaded areas or cooling stations whenever possible. They also advise eating light meals and limiting alcohol consumption.

EMS personnel are urging spectators to keep a close watch on children, older adults, and individuals with underlying medical conditions, who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.

Symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke can include dizziness, fainting, excessive sweating or hot, dry skin, headaches, nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, confusion, and altered mental status.

Anyone experiencing these symptoms, or who notices them in another person, should seek medical attention immediately.

East Alabama Health EMS crews will be stationed throughout Jordan-Hare Stadium during the match and will provide medical coverage for fans attending the event.

“Stay hydrated, stay cool, and enjoy the game,” the agency said.
