A great family kayaking trip turned extremely tragic over the weekend in Harris County along Flat Shoals Creek.
A mom, and a dad, along with three children were enjoying their Saturday on Flat Shoals Creek when the tragedy began. The dad and a toddler went missing around 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, under the creek’s overpass on Highway 103 in Harris County.
The search, which involved the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Harris County Fire and EMS, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Lifesaver 3, Troup County Fire Department, Troup County Sheriff’s Office, and West Point Police Department, immediately began. As the search continued, boaters/rescuers found a 2-year-old nearly five minutes from Riverview Boat Ramp in Valley, Alabama. The 2-year-old, later identified as Xelora Davis, was transported by Lifesaver 3 medical helicopter to a nearby medical facility as life-saving measures were being used, Harris County Coroner Joe Weldon confirmed. Davis was pronounced deceased later Saturday night.
Today, March 10, 2024, the search resumed, and around 5:40 P.M., the father, later identified as 35-year-old Timothy Davis, was recovered from Flat Shoals Creek.
Please continue to pray for this family, their friends, and all of the officials who worked this call.
