Russell County firefighters are continuing to have a busy Friday night, as crews work a structure fire and a brush fire.

Fort Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department, along with Russell County Sheriff’s Office, CARE Ambulance, responded to Kitetown Road around 8:10 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026. Kitetown Road is between Uchee Pines Road and Blueberry Road, off of Nuckols Road, in the Seale community of the county.

Nearby residents told CNAW2News.com they heard a large boom and then saw smoke. The fire involved a storage building behind a residence.

Eventually, fire crews extinguished the blaze with no injuries reported.

Around 9:10 p.m., Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department and Uchee Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire behind a residence located at Ware Road and U.S. Highway 431 North in the Phenix City area of the county.

Heavy black smoke could be seen billowing from the woods behind the residence. Currently, crews are using brush trucks and equipment to extinguish the fire.

This is one of many fires today in Russell County. Earlier today, a pasture fire broke out in Crawford and a 65-acre fire broke out in Hurtsboro.
