This is happening on Lee Road 279, just south of Lee Road 330, in the Salem community of Lee County. The fire began around 3:23 p.m. central time on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Smiths Station Fire and Rescue, along with Beulah Fire and Rescue and Alabama Forestry Commission are on the scene working to contain the fire. At least one fire engine, a brush truck, and forestry equipment was seen at the roadway.

Crews have been working nonstop Tuesday responding to multiple fire scenes. Earlier Tuesday, Smiths Station fire crews extinguished a brush fire on Lee Road 2 and also extinguished a brush fire on Lee Road 249. Salem fire crews extinguished a tree and brush fire on Lee Road 705 earlier as well.
