1 of 6

Five individuals from Columbus, Georgia, were arrested on July 14 following a retail theft incident and brief police pursuit in Auburn, according to the Auburn Police Department.

The incident began when officers responded to a theft call at a business in the 2300 block of Bent Creek Road. A staff member reported multiple suspects had stolen items from the store and entered a vehicle in the parking lot. When officers arrived and attempted to make contact, the vehicle fled the scene, initiating a short pursuit that ended near the 2500 block of East Glenn Avenue.

Three suspects fled on foot from the vehicle but were quickly apprehended. Officers later identified two additional suspects who had remained near the business and fled on foot separately. They were located and arrested a short distance away.

The suspects were identified as Ralph Christopher Hill, 55; Timothy Thomas Reeves, 30; Calvin Screws Jr., 37; Shuan Treomel Hill, 42; and Jomarie Paola Nieves, 31.

Ralph Hill was charged with organized retail theft, resisting arrest, second-degree possession of marijuana, and attempting to elude a police officer. Reeves and Screws were each charged with organized retail theft and attempting to elude. Shuan Hill and Nieves were charged with organized retail theft.

All five were transported to the Lee County Jail. Bond was set at $14,500 for R. Hill, $13,000 each for Reeves and Screws, and $10,000 each for S. Hill and Nieves.

The case remains under investigation.
