  • Two incidents involved shoplifting home appliances and concealing jewelry; all suspects charged with organized retail theft.

Four people were arrested Sunday, September 13, following two separate shoplifting incidents at the Target store on Enterprise Drive, according to the Opelika Police Department.

Police responded to the Target located at 2640 Enterprise Drive at approximately 2:40 p.m. after receiving a report of two individuals attempting to leave the store with shopping carts filled with home appliances.

Target Asset Protection stopped Priscilla Lynne Denton, 44, of Montgomery, while responding officers detained Eric Wayne Giles, 35, of Tallassee, outside the business.

Denton and Giles were transported to the Lee County Jail and charged with Organized Retail Theft.

Later that evening, at approximately 8:14 p.m., Opelika Police responded to the same Target after Asset Protection alerted officers to two individuals allegedly concealing merchandise in the jewelry department.

According to police, 18-year-old Jerry Clyde Edwards of Salem was observed removing security tags from merchandise before 18-year-old Savannah Faith Amber Wilson, also of Salem, allegedly placed the items inside her purse.

Target Asset Protection intercepted the pair after they passed the point of sale.

Edwards and Wilson were taken into custody by Opelika Police and transported to the Lee County Jail, where they were booked on charges of Organized Retail Theft.

All four individuals were arrested based on the incidents reported by Opelika Police.
