High speed chase ends on Highway 280 in Smiths Station near FedEx building

CNAW Newsroom —
High speed chase ends on Highway 280 in Smiths Station near FedEx building

A high speed chase has ended on US Highway 280 in front of FedEx Freight building after Phenix City Police chased a reported stolen vehicle into Lee County on Summerville Road.

The chase then led to Lee County deputies deployed spike strips, which then caused the vehicle to crash. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones confirms no law enforcement official was  injured and no property damage occurred  other than the damage to the stolen vehicle.

Sheriff Jay Jones says that the report of the coroner being involved is NOT ACCURATE.

Alabama State Troopers, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Russell County Sheriff’s Office, and Phenix City Police Department were all on scene, including two EAMC ETS ambulances and at least one wrecker.
