Columbus investigators have begun a probe into a homicide after a female’s body was located at a Victory Drive motel.

The scene was under investigation during the evening hours of Halloween. The scene was taking place in the back of the Motel 6, located at 3050 Victory Drive.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the female as 37-year-old Christina Rena Richardson. Richardson suffered blunt force trauma and a possible gunshot wound to the face. Her body was decomposed.

The family has been notified, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

This is the fifth homicide at this Motel 6 just this year. The first three occurred after a family of 4 were shot. The father and husband, Michael Carter Sr., the son, Michael Carter Jr., and the mother and wife, Tonya Carter, were killed in the shooting, which occurred in mid-February. The fourth homicide occurred in July when James Mitchell was shot and killed.
