Hundreds of demonstrators have gathered peacefully at Toomer’s Corner and Samford Lawn in the heart of Auburn to take part in the “No Kings” protest.

The crowd, made up of adults, teens, and young children, held signs with messages such as “USA No Kings,” “This is What Democracy Looks Like,” “Love Thy Neighbor, Not Thy King,” “No One Is Illegal on Stolen Land,” and “If There Is Money for a Parade, Then There Is Money for Medicaid.” Our photographer has noticed many participants waving American flags and cheering whenever passing drivers honk their horns in support.

The atmosphere has remained peaceful throughout the protest, with a noticeable police presence on site to ensure safety. No counter-protesters were observed during the demonstration.

Organizers said the event was meant to send a message about the importance of democratic values and the rejection of authoritarianism in any form.
