Investigators: Woman jailed after two infants found alone in running car outside Lee County Justice Center

Deputies have arrested a woman after she allegedly left her two infants inside an unlocked, running vehicle outside of the Lee County Justice Center.

The ordeal began around 9:30 AM. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the parking lot of the Lee County Justice Center on Gateway Drive, when a concerned citizen alerted to deputies of two infants being left alone in car seats in a unlocked running vehicle.

“The mother was located inside of the Justice Center and was confronted about the incident,” investigators said. “She immediately became agitated and started arguing with Deputies, saying that it wasn’t a big deal.”

The mother, 24-year-old Sh’nyia A’Zebria Glaze, from Opelika, was arrested on the spot for outstanding warrants through Lee County and was additionally charged with 2 counts each of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Reckless Endangerment.

“Lee County Deputies on the scene estimated that the children were left in the vehicle alone for approximately 10 minutes,” investigators added.

The children are OK and a family member picked up the children. “As by protocol, the Alabama Department of Human Resources was called in reference to the welfare of the children, investigators concluded.
