A LaGrange man has been charged with aggravated assault following an investigation into a shots-fired incident that resulted in multiple rounds being fired into two residences, according to the LaGrange Police Department.

Officers were initially called to the 1100 block of Baldwin Street shortly after 3 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2026, regarding reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with Travis L. Towns, who fled the scene on foot. Towns was subsequently apprehended.

Police said Towns was found in possession of illegal narcotics and was arrested and charged in connection with the drug violation, as well as obstruction.

Later that morning, at approximately 11 a.m., officers returned to the same area after receiving a report involving an occupied residence and an unoccupied residence that had been struck by multiple rounds fired during the earlier incident.

The LaGrange Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division continued the investigation and determined Towns was responsible for the shooting. He was subsequently charged with aggravated assault.
