CNAW Newsroom —
LaGrange police officer shot Sunday night, latest here

A LaGrange police officer was shot in the line of duty Sunday night. His condition is non-life threatening.

The incident occurred around 10 P.M. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, when officers responded to a individual reportedly beating on the door of a residence in the 600 block of Glenn Robertson Street.

As the officer approached the residence and knocked on the front door, a single gunshot was fired from inside the residence, striking the officer in the leg.

“He immediately retreated to a position of safety and ordered the occupants of the residence to exit,” police said. Both individuals were detained without further incident.

Police said the officer was treated on scene by medical personnel and was later transported by medical helicopter to Columbus-area hospital. The officer’s injuries were determined to be non life threatening and was admitted for treatment.

Detectives arrested the alleged shooter, identified as Laurance Williams. Williams is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and giving false statements.

Williams’ mugshot was not yet available.

GBI Public Affairs confirmed to CNAW2News.com they were not aware of a GBI investigation surrounding the incident at this time.

The investigation by LaGrange police detectives remains ongoing.
