Lee County man facing charges in burglary, theft investigations across Smiths Station, Phenix City

Lee County Investigators have made an arrest in burglary cases across Phenix City and Smiths Station and have recovered property connected to a private school.

Investigators say their investigation began during the month of January 2024, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of burglaries and thefts from storage units located in the 100 block of Lee Road 286 in the Smiths Station community of Lee County.

Video surveillance equipment identified the suspect as 37-year-old Kenneth Dale Jackson on January 25, 2024.

Nearly a week later, on February 1, 2024, Jackson was spotted by Lee County Deputies and a traffic stop was conducted.

“During the stop, a handgun, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, baseballs, a baseball bag and batting gloves were located in the vehicle,” investigators said. Lee County investigators found that the baseball equipment was stolen from Glenwood School in Phenix City and the handgun was stolen from another Phenix City burglary.

Phenix City detectives responded and assisted Lee County investigators with the case.

Investigators and Detectives searched a storage unit belonging to one of Jacksons family members where other stolen property was located.

“Other property included more baseball and softball equipment, approximately 15 medallions and approximately 15 championship rings all from Glenwood School,” investigators added. Other property included two suitcases full of personal property, a hunting blind, a chair and multiple other miscellaneous property all stolen from Lee County burglaries and thefts.

Jackson was transported to the Lee County Jail where he was charged with 1 count of Criminal trespass 2nd Degree, 1 count of Receiving Stolen Property 2nd Degree, 1 count of Possession of a controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), 1 count of Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 3 counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, and 1 Count of Theft of Property 2nd degree.

Jackson is being held on a $17,500.00 bond and more charges are expected.
