The incident occurred during the evening hours of January 14, 2026, after deputies responded to a a caller reporting dogs running at large in the 1200 block of Lee Road 45.

As deputies arrived and began checking the area, they observed a dog with an injury to its’ leg.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said the dog’s owner was located and after investigating circumstances, probable cause to arrest was established and the owner was taken into custody.

The owner, identified as 57-year-old William Eblin, was taken into custody on one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

“Lee County Animal control responded and attempted to capture the injured dog but he ran away,” Jones said. “Additional attempts to capture will be in progress.”
