Man critically injured after being found shot in the head at Troup County home

CNAW Newsroom —
Man critically injured after being found shot in the head at Troup County home

Authorities have begun a probe into a shooting that left one man critically injured.

Authorities were first alerted of the scene around 7:50 A.M. on August 11, 2025, when an adult male, later identified as 47-year-old Dawendall White, was found unresponsive in his home, at 196 Chipley-Mountville Road, and bleeding from his head.

“Once Troup County Fire and EMS personnel arrived on scene, they requested Sheriff’s Office personnel respond to the scene as it appeared a crime may have occurred,” authorities said.

White was was transported to Well Star West Georgia Medical Center for treatment and while he was being evaluated by medical personnel, it was discovered that he was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

“At that time investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division were notified and responded to both the hospital and the crime scene on Chipley Mountville Road,” authorities added.

White remains listed in critical condition, and investigators believe there is no threat to anyone in the community. Anyone with any information on this case is asked to call our Criminal Investigations Division at 706-883-1616 or Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.

This is an ongoing investigation, nothing further at this time.
