CNAW Newsroom —
Man shot in the neck on LaGrange street; suspect arrested after standoff

A Lagrange man was shot Tuesday afternoon in the city of LaGrange and the suspect involved was arrested after a standoff with police.

LaGrange patrol officers and other law enforcement officials responded to 1401 Juniper Street on September 13, 2022, where one male subject, whose identity is still unknown at this time, was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim received aid immediately from officials and was later transported via Life Flight to a Metro area hospital.

“Officers immediately received information the suspect had fled the scene and was now inside the residence of 1313 Juniper Street,” police said. “At this time the uninvolved residents of 1313 Juniper Street were evacuated to safety.”

After a short standoff, Quindarious Smith surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. He was subsequently charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (as Smith is a convicted felon from a previous Armed Robbery conviction).

The victim has yet to be identified and is listed in serious but stable condition and also undergoing surgery.  Quindarious Smith was on active Parole at the time of this incident. Smith was previously convicted of Armed Robbery.
