Man turns himself in following brutal assault in LaGrange

CNAW Newsroom —
Man turns himself in following brutal assault in LaGrange

A suspect has turned himself in following a violent assault that left a 67-year-old man seriously injured in LaGrange.

According to the LaGrange Police Department, officers responded to a call around 8:15 p.m. on March 29, 2026, at a home in the 100 block of Turner Street in reference to a person injured during a fight.

When officers arrived, they found 67-year-old L.B. Hubbard suffering from severe head and facial injuries. Authorities say Hubbard was airlifted to a Columbus-area hospital for treatment and was unable to provide a statement at the time.

Investigators with the department’s Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene to take over the case. Witnesses reported seeing a man repeatedly punching and stomping on Hubbard’s head while he was lying motionless on the ground. The suspect was described as a Black male in his late 30s to early 40s, wearing a white shirt and gray sweatpants, with dreadlocks. He was last seen walking toward the 150 block of Turner Street.

In an update released Thursday, police confirmed that Larry Cotton turned himself in at the LaGrange Police Department around 7:30 p.m. on April 9 without incident.

Authorities thanked the public for helping identify the suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Detective D. Horseman at 706-883-2658.
