MCSO: Brief pursuit in East Wynnton leads to crash, two arrests; gun, drugs recovered

MCSO: Brief pursuit in East Wynnton leads to crash, two arrests; gun, drugs recovered

A brief pursuit in a Columbus neighborhood ended in a motor vehicle collision and two arrests, as well as one handgun and drugs being recovered.

The pursuit began when the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Patrol Units observed a vehicle traveling recklessly in the East Wynnton area.

Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to come to a stop. The suspect disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Lawyers Lane and Marion Street, striking another vehicle and causing the suspect’s own vehicle to land upside down.

“The driver, Jakevia Humphrey, attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended,” the sheriff’s office says. “The passenger, Brinnard Allen, was also detained on the scene. Both individuals are validated gang members and each had multiple outstanding felony warrants.” When Humphrey was apprehended, she had approximately 201 grams of Marijuana and a Glock pistol on her person, which had previously been reported stolen.

Humphrey and Allen were transported to the Muscogee County Jail without further incident.
