Meriwether County Fire Rescue involved in wreck Sunday afternoon

UPDATE (9:22 P.M. on 07/28/2024): According to Meriwether County Fire Rescue, today, one of their units was responding to a vehicle accident on Georgia Highway 85 North of Gay when an engine hit water in the roadway and hydroplaned.
It appears that the apparatus overturned. “Both of our firefighters were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and expect to be released later this evening,” the service said. “We appreciate all the text and calls of concern for our firefighters. Again they escaped with minor injuries. This accident is being worked by Georgia State Patrol.”

The crash was reported near The Silo Steakhouse in the 19000 block of State Route Highway 85.
Serious damage was reported on a Meriwether County fire truck. We understand there have been injuries reported in the crash.
