New traffic signal installed at Highway 280 intersection to improve safety

CNAW Newsroom —
New traffic signal installed at Highway 280 intersection to improve safety

A new traffic signal installed at a busy Lee County intersection to improve safety.

The new traffic signal is located at the intersection of Lee Road 379 at U.S. Highway 280 E/W in the Smiths Station community of Lee County.

Lee County District 3 Commissioner Jeff Drury said, a few months ago, he met with Lee County Engineer Justin Hardee and the local ALDOT Division to express concerns from Lee County residents about the potential dangers of navigating the traffic signal.

The signals allow for one directional turning for crossing traffic at the intersection known for its serious motor vehicle collisions over the years.
