A person is dead and a suspect has been charged with murder following a shooting Sunday afternoon in Manchester, according to the Manchester Police Department.

Police say officers responded to the 500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at approximately 2:32 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, after receiving a report of a person who had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found an adult victim inside a white SUV suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers immediately began CPR until Manchester Fire and EMS personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

Detectives with the Manchester Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Manchester police secured the scene and detained all involved parties while the investigation was underway.

According to police, the GBI assumed the lead investigative role upon arrival.

Investigators identified a suspect, who was taken into custody and charged with murder. Authorities have not yet released the identities of either the victim or the suspect.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Manchester Police Department or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
