One person shot in Lanett Wednesday afternoon

UPDATE 1: The Lanett Police Department’s Investigations Division has made an arrest with the shooting incident that occurred on April 23, 2025. On April 26, 2025, at approximately 6:58 p.m., officers arrested 21-year-old Tyrese Finley of Lanett, Alabama, in the 1700 block of 23rd Street SW. Mr. Finley was taken into custody without incident and is facing three counts of Attempted Murder.
Lanett police is investigating a midday shooting in the West Shawmut neighborhood of the city.
The shooting occurred around 12:30 P.M. on April 23, 2025, in the area of 18th Avenue SW and 24th Street SW.
Police say the victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound and received on-site medical attention and was transported by emergency medical services to a medical facility for further treatment. At this time, the victim is reported to be in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.
This incident is currently under active investigation. “The Lanett Police Department is working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” police added.
