CNAW Newsroom —
Pedestrian killed, others injured in Macon County crash

A Saturday evening crash in Macon County has left one person dead and others injured, according to state troopers.

The two-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, on Macon County Road 56 near Cleghorn Drive.

State troopers say 52-year-old Sedrick D. Brooks, the pedestrian, was standing in the roadway, was fatally injured when he was struck by the 2020 Kia Optima driven by a Notasulga citizen. After the initial impact, the Kia then struck the 1993 Allegro Bay Recreational Vehicle (RV), which was sitting stationary in the roadway at the time of collision. Brooks was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both passengers in the Kia, were injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South, in Montgomery for treatment. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
