Police Chief George Staudinger is retiring after 32 years of dedicated service. Staudinger served as chief of the department since the summer of 2023.

Before that, he worked in the department’s criminal investigations division, administration office, and also held a role in the department’s Soecial Response Team as a member and commander.

“Your leadership, dedication, and commitment to our community have left an incredible impact,” the department said. “We will truly miss you and thank you for everything you’ve done for the police department and the citizens of Phenix City.”

The City of Phenix City has not announced their plans to hire a new chief, or if the search for a new chief will be within the department or not.
