Police investigate robbery after 82-year-old woman’s purse snatched at Food Depot

LaGrange police are investigating a Monday morning robbery of an 82-year-old woman who was the victim of a robbery by snatch while shopping at the Food Depot located at 908 Hogansville Road, according to the LaGrange Police Department.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a robbery inside the store. Upon arrival, they spoke with the victim, Martha Sheppard, who told officers that while she was shopping, an unknown male suspect snatched her purse directly from her shopping cart.

The purse contained an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency along with various personal items.

Witnesses at the scene described the suspect as a Black male wearing a black ski mask, a black or dark-colored jacket with a white flower pattern, and light-colored pants. He was seen fleeing the area on foot immediately after the incident.

The LaGrange Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division was called to the scene and has launched a full investigation. No injuries were reported.
