Columbus police have concluded their month-long operation titled Operation Overlook.

The operation had officers from all divisions within the department working extended hours to increase patrols, boost visibility, and target high-crime areas as summer break began. The operation took place from May 13th to June 13th.

During the operation, officers contacted 7,773 people, arrested 206 people, cleared 236 warrants, filed 144 felony charges, filed 273 misdemeanor charges, confiscated 32 firearms, arrested 11 gang members, issued 1,144 citations, 1,296 warnings, and 54 principal summons, and addressed multiple city ordinance violations.

“So far in 2025, Columbus has seen a 30% drop in Part 1 crimes compared to the same time last year, and Operation Overlook played a major role in that progress,” police said. “We remain committed to building on this momentum and keeping Columbus safe.”
