Amazing news on this Monday afternoon. A 70-year-old man who went missing Sunday night has been found safe on Lee Road 40 following a massive search effort and tips from the community. The Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Emergency Management Agency, Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department, Salem Volunteer Fire Department, Crawford Volunteer Fire Department, EAMC Emergency Transport Services and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency assisted in the search. Thank you to all the first responders, search crews and community members who helped bring this search to a safe conclusion.
A multi-agency search is underway for a missing 70-year-old man who was last seen Sunday evening in a wooded area near Lee Road 126 in the Beauregard community.
Wayne Claunch was last seen on foot during the evening of Sunday, October 25, 2026. Claunch has early-onset Alzheimer's, according to information released about his disappearance.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Emergency Management Agency and volunteer firefighters from Crawford, Salem and Beauregard are among the agencies involved in the ongoing search.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have information about Claunch's whereabouts to contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (334) 737-7131 or call 911.
Anyone in the area is encouraged to remain alert and report any information that could help search crews locate Claunch.
