Sheriff’s Office continues patrols in high crime areas in Columbus leaving multiple arrests and items recovered

CNAW Newsroom —
Sheriff’s Office continues patrols in high crime areas in Columbus leaving multiple arrests and items recovered

The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office continues to battle crime on the front lines, along with Columbus Police Department. The Uniform Patrol division of the Sheriff’s Office, from March 23rd – 25th, conducted saturated patrols in various high crime areas. “The areas were based on concerns from residents in said areas,” Sheriff Greg Countryman said.

Multiple traffic stops were conducted on vehicles for being in violation of various Georgia Traffic laws. The traffic stops yeilded the several items and multiple arrests. 3 loaded firearms, 24 grams of methamphetamine, 1 gram of cocaine, 22 grams of marijuana, several drug related items, and 5 warrants were cleared.

Arrests were made on individuals for Felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime (3), Felony Possession of Methamphetamine (1), Felony Possession of Cocaine (1), and Felony Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute (1).

“The drive, diligence, and dedication of these deputies allowed for the removal of illegal drugs and firearms off the streets of Muscogee County,” Sheriff Countryman added.
