Son charged in murder of own father during domestic dispute on Lee Road 279

CNAW Newsroom —
Son charged in murder of own father during domestic dispute on Lee Road 279

A Lee County son is behind bars after shooting, killing his own father during a domestic dispute at a home on Lee Road 279 late Friday night in the Beulah area.

Lee County deputies, Beulah Fire Rescue, and EAMC ETS were dispatched to the 7700 block of Lee Road 279 where they discovered the 60-year-old male suffering from two gunshot wounds: one to the leg, and another in the torso area. Lifesaver was requested, but later canceled due to the male being pronounced deceased on scene. The 60-year-old male was identified as James Worthy.

Viewers in the area nearby heard gunshots and then screaming before authorities were dispatched to the scene.

33-year-old Matthew James Worthy was booking into the Lee County Jail on Saturday, with a murder charge. Worthy was born on April 15th, 1989, which means yesterday, the day of the murder, was his birthday.
