An arrest has been made after flushing valves were stolen from multiple Columbus restaurants.

The spree of thefts involve a male subject walking into fast food chains, including Taco Bell, Burger King and Starbucks, and taking the flushing valves off of the toilets. At least five Taco Bell restaurants, with two in Columbus and three in Alabama, were targeted, according to a Taco Bell management source who wanted to remain anonymous.

Sources also confirm the suspect hit multiple other restaurants in East Alabama, including Zaxby’s.

The male subject was later identified and arrested by the Columbus Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit.

Oakes

The male, identified as Jarrad Oakes, was arrested on April 9 and is facing numerous charges of theft by taking and criminal damage to property, according to jail records. At this time, Oakes has not been charged in Phenix City.

The investigation is ongoing. This is a developing story.
