Teen girl shot in hand by 12-year-old boy on LaGrange street

CNAW Newsroom —
Teen girl shot in hand by 12-year-old boy on LaGrange street

LaGrange police has a public service announcement for citizens following an entering auto and shooting incident yesterday: please remember to lock your doors and remove any valuable items, including firearms.

The incident occurred when police responded to the 900 block of Kelley Street in reference to a person shot on December 20, 2022, at 5:27 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a fifteen year old female juvenile, who stated she was walking along the 1000 block of Borton Street with her brother and a third twelve year old male juvenile.

The male juvenile had obtained a handgun while committing the offense of Entering Auto earlier this date. The male and female juveniles engaged in an altercation over the firearm at which time the firearm was accidentally discharged. The female sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. The female received medical treatment at the scene and was later transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center for further treatment.

The male juvenile has been charged with Entering Auto, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Firearm under 18.

Like our article said in the beginning, please remember to lock your doors and remove any valuable items, including firearms.

If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706 812-1000.
