CNAW Newsroom —
Threat to Columbus, Phenix City schools deemed ‘not credible’, school district says
Key takeaways
  • Social media threat targeting multiple Columbus and Phenix City schools deemed not credible by police.
  • Extra police presence deployed at affected campuses; investigation ongoing for student and staff safety.

Two school districts and law enforcement on both sides of the river are investigating after a social media post threatened multiple schools.

The post was made to Instagram during the evening hours of Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

The post stated “school shooting” with a list of schools that include: Shaw High School, Midland Middle School, East Columbus Magnet Academy, Rothschild Middle School, Fort Middle School, Baker Middle School, Eddy Middle School, and Double Churches Middle School in Columbus, and Phenix City Intermediate School in Phenix City.

CNAW2News.com, alongside other community members, immediately notified officials who immediately began an investigation.

The Muscogee County School District Police Department, in collaboration with local law enforcement, has deemed the threat not credible.

“Out of an abundance of caution, police presence will be on all affected campuses throughout the day tomorrow to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff,” the Muscogee County School District said.

Phenix City Schools also issued an email to families and parents of students.

The email stated the district will have additional safety measures in place.

The investigation remains ongoing.
